Back

This Christmas, The Simpsons are supporting Greyhounds As Pets - helping more than 2,000 greyhounds find their forever homes after laws were changed to ban greyhound racing in New Zealand.

To show New Zealander’s that greyhounds make the perfect family pet and to change perceptions, we shared the joys of life with the most famous ex-racing greyhound: Santa’s Little Helper, who was adopted by The Simpsons on Christmas Day. Using classic scenes from the last 36 years that showcase his gentle nature, loyalty and companionship, the beloved greyhound now represents the thousands of dogs waiting to be rehomed.

Perceptions began to shift almost immediately. In a country of just five million people, the campaign reached over 51.5 million. Site visits increased by 135%, while adoption applications rose by 107%, leading to a 64.6% increase in completed adoptions.
